Training Day on 10th October was a busy one for our excellent volunteer advisers – and totally caught the spirit of the CARBS Training Commitment*.
Thanks are due to Sarah Crosbie, Community Safety Officer, and Richard Robinson, Head of Housing, Reigate and Banstead Borough Council for expert contributions on modern slavery and implementation of housing policy changes respectively.
Also to our hard-working Training Manager, Helen, for a tour de force on Universal Credit (it makes landfall here on the 24th, folks) as well as organising the whole day.
And no training day report would be complete without a mention for one volunteer, John (pictured below) whose generosity again got the day off to a delicious start. Among John’s special interests are problems connected with immigration, visas and freedom of movement. On this occasion, however, his transport of genuine french croissants to Training Day showed, if we ever doubted it, that CARBS really does mean CARBS.
* CARBS Training Commitment: To ensure all volunteer advisers enhance their skills and knowledge; know how to give advice effectively; and feel confident to help clients solve problems and lead happier lives.
