Family Centres in Reigate and Banstead

Family Centres offer one-to-one family support to meet the needs of local families and children. By using a model of individual packages of care, these centres provide specialist support for vulnerable families wherever that best suits them – whether that is at home, in local community venues or at the centre itself. This is a great way for families to get advice about day-to-day issues as these centres offer courses on parenting and provide workshops on issues such as keeping your family safe. The Centres also run specific programmes for children who have been exposed to domestic violence, as well as offering individualised support for children with additional needs. Family centres have a wide range of support for parents and children to ensure better parenting and better outcomes for children.

These centres aim to prevent family circumstances from having a significant impact on the health, development and general well-being of children. Welcare in East Surrey Family Centre – Redhill

The family centre for Redhill, Earlswood and Reigate is run by Welcare in East Surrey on behalf of Surrey County Council. Welcare is a regional charity working with children and families across South London and East Surrey.

Horley Family Centre

The family centre for Horley is operated by YMCA East Surrey on behalf of Surrey County Council. YMCA East Surrey is a local charity with experience of providing targeted services for the most vulnerable children and young people.

At the centres, a team of specialised Family Support Workers will work directly with the families to offer support and guidance for a variety of areas including special educational needs, parenting, behaviour, mental health and much more. Whether you are looking for an informative parenting course or want to help develop your child’s communication through fun play-based sessions, Family Centres have got you covered. Centres can also signpost parents and families to the best local resources and if required, help them with form filling and accompanying visits to schools and nurseries. These centres are a vital community resource and are consistently looking for ways to help local residents via the following:

• Free First Aid Session – 10am January 25th at Epsom Downs Family Centre
• Horley Family Centre helping families with gas/electric bills through the Fuel Poverty Support Scheme
• Epsom Downs Family Centre offering Food Bank Vouchers at the centre.
• Plus much more.

The services that Family Centres in Reigate and Banstead are offering comes as part of the change to the way that Surrey County Council supports families. The new approach looks at focusing resources on helping the families most in need of support, rather than providing universal services for all families.
